Conversation #9

Lord, help me make it through this test. Things have gotten a bit overbearing. It feels like I am in this thing with no help at all. I don't want to be taken out of the test, but can You send me some help. I need a tutor, a teacher's aide, some extra credit, or something like that.

God, please help me get through this with grace, faith, and my sanity.

Amen

Conversation Overheard #7

"It's going to be okay. I just had a fight with my boyfriend. The computer is acting crazy. These silly folk around here are getting on my nerves. I need God's help to go through this test I am going through. I am going to make it."

That's the conversation I keep having with myself.

Conversation #8

I walked by the microwave in the small break room of my office one morning around 9:30 AM. The clock on it said 3:20. I was about to get excited and go to running all over the place happy to go home.

Then it hit me... It wasn't anywhere near 3:20. I was upset at the microwave for a second and then I fell out laughing.

I'm a trip sometimes.

I work as a secretary in a warehouse. At a meeting one-day, the Vice-President of the company said, "Can you guys please watch how you use the restrooms? No one wants to have to clean up after you make a mess in the bathroom."

It has often been said that the men's bathroom of the warehouse are the nastiest in the building.

The lady who replenishes the toilet paper and paper towel ain't none of me. I would lock the men's restroom and keep it locked until the guys could prove that they could keep the restrooms clean.

I figure that using it outside in the cold weather would help a man learn how to clean up after himself.

Conversation Flashback #2

I had a situation recently that reminded me of something my old pastor use to say...

"Be sure your sins will find you out!"

When you do wrong, it's gonna catch up with you sooner or later.

I was also reminded of him saying...

"You gonna reap what you sow, as sho as you born and you sow it. You gonna reap it."

Those two phrases helped me not to...

"Do evil for evil."

Conversation #6

My boss told me that I had to stop talking to my boyfriend on the phone everyday. Mind you, I have only talked to my boyfriend on the phone three times in six months. My boss has no way of knowing who I am on the phone with. Someone went and tattled on me. I thought you stop tattling on people by the time you were nine or ten.

I guess that was a wrong conclusion.

By the way... How did 3 times turn into everyday?

Conversation Overheard #6

A lady had told me that she had just kicked her husband out of her house after their divorce. About a week later, I heard her making arrangements for a weekend at a cabin. She called a guy friend and told him that she had the cabin rented. I tried not to insinuate anything from the conversations.

Either I have got to stop eavesdropping or she needs to talk softer. She needs to talk softer.

Conversation Overheard #5

I heard a guy tell a girl, "I have a girlfriend, but it is complicated and a long story."

What kind of mess is that?

Conversation #5

"God is good."

Mother Henry always starts her testimonies with that phrase. Before she gives honor, before she says anything, she reminds of us God's goodness.

I am sure glad that "God is good!"

Conversation #4

I am an adult, you are an adult. If you have a beef with me, talk to me about it. Don't go behind my back to someone else and tell them, then get me hollered at. Be a man or woman and step to me face to face.

Conversation #3

I was talking with one of my home girls. We were discussing how some people could get away with anything and we couldn't seem to get away with anything.

It just doesn't seem fair that sometimes because of your race, name, stature, family name, or wealth that you can get away with some things that I could never possibly get away with.

It seems that way with Christians as well. When Christians runs a yellow light, police are everywhere, but when a drunk driver is swerving all over the road, there is no officer in sight.

That don't seem right.

That's one of those things I am gonna have to ask God about when I get to Heaven.
